CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />May 14, 2026 <br />Public Works <br />VI.6 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />MN OSHA Grant - Reader Board Sign <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />The Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Adminstration offers grants with a match dollare for dollar up <br />to $10,000. The next due date for this grant is June 15, 2026. City staff are requesting the approval to write a <br />grant for an electronic portable message/arrow board that can be used for both roadway safety for working <br />crews and community messaging for roadway information. Most portable electronic sign boards are solar and <br />range in pricing from approximately $15,000 to $20,000. Staff believe this sign would be a very useful piece of <br />equipment that can be implemented in a variety of work areas and for various community informational needs. <br />This grant is offered for assistance to municipalities and companies to include safety equipment and training <br />that might not otherwise be able to be purchased.
