TO: Parks & Recreation Committee

FROM: Kim Stephan

E

SUBJECT: Updates

DATE: December 29,2006

Replacine: Skate Park Equipment

Mr. John Meyer, Finance Director, said that replacing skate park equipment is not something that has been
budgeted for in the past and there is not money available in the Maintenance Fund to cover the costs to
replace this equipment at this time. In the future, there could be money allocated, but the committee would
have to make a request to have funds included in the budget over a period of time with a schedule of
equipment to be replaced. Mr. Peterson will have prices for the committee to review by Wednesday, January
3, 2007. With an estimate of costs the City can request funding for consideration from the Dead Broke
Saddle Club Charitable Gambling Funds also.

Financials

Concerning the following motion, City Administrator, Mr. Dallas Larson asked me to inform the committee
to go ahead with project planning, as City Council is supportive and will work with the committee and staff
to find or allocate funding for the upcoming park projects. City Council would like more specific cost
estimates when available.

Motion was made by Committee Member Amundsen, seconded by Vice-Chairperson Seeley to
recommend City Council allocate $100,000 from the General Fund for the development of the park at
1601 LaMotte Drive to include a gazebo, picnic tables, benches, lake store restoration, a rain
garden(s), general landscaping and tree/shrub removal, as well as a paved walkway, requesting Staff
pursue any avenues of rmancing the projects through grants or donations. All in favor. Motion
carried unanimously.

Available Peltier Lake Property

No update at this time.

Channel Park Property on Peltier Preserve

No update at this time, but Mr. Larson hopes to have more information by Wednesday, January 3,2007.

Tracie McBride Memorial Park

Public Works has removed the equipment, timbers and footings from one of the three play areas at Tracie
McBride Memorial Park. One small talking tube is still in place because it is connected to a talking tube in
another play area. The timbers are rotten, but the play equipment can be reinstalled.

1 of 1
