<br />Memorandum <br />From the desk a/Ray DeVine... <br /> <br />To: <br /> <br />Festival Committee Members <br /> <br />Date: <br /> <br />November 19, 2001 <br />Festival Committee <br /> <br />Subject: <br />From: <br /> <br />Ray De Vine <br /> <br />As my earlier memo stated, I have decided to resign from the Festival Committee. I understand that <br />my earlier memo left some room for interpretation; it is my intention to resign from the festival <br />committee. Although I am not pleased with the actions of the current city council members, I would <br />encourage everyone to continue to plan a city celebration that the entire city can be proud of. <br /> <br />I had approached the city council and requested a large amount of money to fund the city celebration. <br />This would have relieved the committee from the fundraising that we have done in the past. I feel that <br />the majority of the community would be supportive of funding a city celebration in the future. <br />Unfortunately, this year, due to changes in the economy, changes in the state property tax system and <br />changes in our city councils' priorities, you will not receive the funds I requested. Remember, we did <br />only receive $5,000 last year from the city and we put on an excellent celebration for all the residents <br />to enjoy. <br /> <br />I hope to help with the festival as it gets closer, but at this time, I need to spend time with my family, <br />my business and some of my other volunteer duties. I hope that everyone who is on the committee <br />stays on the committee and works toward another great celebration for 2002. Please feel free to call <br />me with any questions you may have from the previous 2 years. <br />
