Since that
time I have had to "put up" with severe water problems in my backyard from a
poorly designed drainage system. This so-called system was put in place just
before I moved into my house and was done by the city of Centerville. Because
this was done before I purchased my house and was arranged by the previous
owner, I had no say in what occurred.

In June of 1992, the city came and placed a drainage ditch behind several
homes and the end result was that it would pool in my backyard. Every spring
I have a pond of water in my yard that will not dry up until late June or
early July. There is no way I can find to correct this problem, and it is
something that obviously "devalues" my property.

I understand that there is a city council meeting tonight and this issue will
be brought up by my neighbor Keith Okano I will not be able to attend as I
have a prior commitment and cannot change it at this late date. I am very
concerned about this and would like to have some resolution. I believe that
"he city is responsible for the way the water drains in my property and I
vould like to have it changed. With all the new construction in the area, I
am sure this has contributed to the problem.

Three weeks ago, I called Tom Peterson, city engineer about this and he said
someone would come out and look at it. No one ever called me back and did
anything about it.

If you have further question, please feel free to contact me at any time. I
am eager to hear what is discussed at the meeting.

Sincerely,

Cindy Ulshafer
1825 Center Street
Centerville, MN 55038
(651) 653-4736 home
(651) 210-3820 cell
(763) 494-9854 work

1
