Date: May 11,2001

To: Council and Jim March

From: Tim Swedberg, Mayor

RE: Final Goal Draft

Reply Due May 18,2001

At the May 9,2001 Council meeting, members agreed to table adoption of the goals
pending final document review by members. The intent of the Final Goal document is to
provide a plan of action for the next 2 years.

I have written the document a bit differently in an attempt at clarity. This is in response
to comments from the Park and Recreation Committee and a presentation by Terry
Sweeney who appeared at a recent Council meeting. I tried not to alter the basic
concepts that people have voiced during the process.

Please give me your comments, corrections, and omissions by May 18. If I do not
receive your comments by that date, I will assume the language is sufficient.

At the May 23rd Council meeting I will ask that the Final Goals document be adopted.
Because there has been little interest in the Garden concept, I am removing that from
the document.

I am adding a statement about public safety for additional clarity. Our citizens receive
exceptional value from our volunteers at the Centennial Fire Department. Centennial
Lakes Police Department service is also exceptional. Our community is growing and we
will be asked to provide increased financial support for our public safety agencies. I
think it is appropriate to include a comment about public safety as always the first
priority .
