<br />" <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />NOT <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />PARKS AND RECREATION <br />COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />May 2, 2001 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Parks and Recreation Committee of the City <br />of Centerville held their regularly scheduled meeting on May 2, 2001 at City Hall, 1880 <br />Main Street. Chairperson Doug Porter called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The <br />meeting time was modified to accommodate interviews. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Chairperson Doug Porter <br />Wayne LeBlanc <br />Karla DeVine <br />T edd Peterson <br />Brian Walter <br />Linda Broussard Vickers (Council Liaison) <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Sta1f: Jill Lien <br /> <br />INTERVIEWS <br /> <br />Ms. Lien had sent invitations to the following candidates who had expressed interest in <br />filling the vacancies on the Parks and Recreation Committee: Tom Babcock, Bill Bisek, <br />Tom Lee and Kathy Peil. The informal interviews began at 6:00 p.m. and each were <br />allowed 15 minutes with the Committee. <br /> <br />APPEARANCES <br /> <br />Satellite at Eagle Park <br />The following residents appeared before the Parks and Recreation Committee to express <br />their concerns over the placement ofthe satellite at Eagle Park: Tom and Mary Johnson <br />(1829 Voyager Ct.), Russ and Pat Lucas (1833 Voyager Ct.) and Janice Hackman (7034 <br />Dupre Rd.). <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson explained that he and his wife were very displeased with the placement of <br />the satellite at Acorn Creek Park. He stated it is an unwelcomed addition to the <br />neighborhood, it is a visual eyesore, it diminishes property values, it's too far away from <br />the playground equipment, and the odor and appearance diminish the quality of the <br />neighborhood. He requested the Parks and Recreation Committee look to other <br />alternatives for placement of the satellite (i.e.: other side of path, additional pathway to <br />another location, closer to the center of activity, etc.). Additionally, the youth are using <br />drugs in the satellites. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />" <br />
