To: Date: Honorable Mayor and City Council members March 23, 2001 Fete des Lacs Budget Chairperson Ray DeVine Subject: From: Enclosed please find the 2001 Final Draft Fete des Lacs budget, I have made some changes as per our discussions at the last council meeting. I am anticipating some additional questions, but hope to have fmal approval of our budget at the conclusion of your meeting. There are a couple things I would like to point out in regards to the budget I am submitting. One ofthe things that we discussed at the last Council meeting was the layout of my budget, I have attempted to make the necessary changes to assist you in understanding the budget. However, I must point out that last year we did not go through this process, so many of the numbers provided herein regarding what happened last year are incomplete and incorrectly categorized. One example is the Parade, when it came time to compile the numbers after the event, the Craft fairIParade/Main stage were considered one event, partly because one group of individuals was planning those portions ofthe Fete des Lacs. They had separate budgets in the beginning, but were. grouped together when the final numbers were tallied. These numbers are not categorized properly. In the case of Operations, we did not have a budget or a category for this, these numbers are spread throughout the individual budgets and expenditures. These numbers are, in turn, hidden in last years budget. I have enclosed the Summary Sheet that was provided to me at the conclusion of last years event. I have derived much of my information regarding last year from this summary. We have a much better handle on how to break things down and track things this year. I would expect next years' budget process to be much easier to understand. I am looking forward to working with you next week.
