<br />Council Member Broussard Vickers noted her dislike of the tone of the letter. <br />She stated if the consensus of the Council was not to fine the business she <br />proposes a letter be drafted to the State in response outlining the fact that the City <br />has chosen not to impose a penalty and give the reasons the Council choose to <br />decline. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Travis. seconded by Council Member Sweeney <br />to table the drafting of a response to the Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement <br />Division to the October 11. 2000 Council Meeting to allow time for City <br />Attorney Hoeft to review M.S. Cha{>ter 340A.415. All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Letter from Alexandra House <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber read a letter from Alexandra House requesting the Council <br />declare the month of October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Travis. seconded by Council Member Sweeney <br />to declare October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. All in favor. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Letter from Anoka County Community Development <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber read a letter from Anoka County Community Development <br />proposing modifying the way Community Development Block Grant funds <br />(CDBG) are distributed throughout the County. <br /> <br />Mr. March explained to Council he had attended a meeting regarding the matter <br />and said under the proposed modifications, Centerville will compete with cities of <br />comparable size for CDBG funds. <br /> <br />Letter from Minnesota House of Representatives <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber read a letter received from the Minnesota House of <br />Representatives regarding a series of town meetings scheduled to discuss <br />proposed modifications to, and the effectiveness of the Metropolitan Council. <br /> <br />IX. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />St. Genevieve's Land Inquiry Letter <br /> <br />The Council discussed a letter drafted by Mr. March to St. Genevieve's Catholic <br />Church requesting church officials meet with City officials to discuss plans for <br />future redevelopment. <br /> <br />Page 10 of 12 <br />
