This has been one of the most significantly interesting and <br />rewarding experiences in my life. <br /> <br />It was fulfilling to see the commission through the hiring process of a new chief and deputy chief, a <br />restructuring of the police department, two new labor contracts, the budget process refined and <br />defined and the inception of a three city joint powers police department. There have been a <br />myriad of other changes, honors and accomplishments and I am proud to have been a part of all <br />of it. I believe that you have one of the finest police departments, with conscientious, dedicated <br />personnel and I will miss everyone tremendously. <br /> <br />My recent election to the Minnesota State Senate means, however, that I must resign this position. <br />I am hereby serving notice that effective December 31, 2000, I will no longer be able to serve. I <br />have allowed such a long time line to allow ample time for the interview, selection and approval <br />process of a new police commission chair. In the event you find someone immediately and wish <br />this date moved forward, I would comply with that request. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rick Anderson, Vice Chair, will conduct the December meeting because I will be <br />unavailable to do so. <br /> <br />I thank you for the opportunity given me to serve your cities and your residents, who, in the case <br />of Circle Pines, are now my constituents. <br /> <br />My Senate office door will always be open to you. <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />Mady Reiter <br />State Senator-Elect <br />District 53 <br />
