SET AGENDA <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Sweeney. seconded by Council Member Nelson to set the <br />ae:enda addine: "Eae:le Truckine:" under Unfinished Business and "Pay Scale", Census. and <br />Senator Krentz under New Business. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />VII. PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS <br /> <br />Snowmobile Concerns <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber referenced three letters included in the Council's packet regarding snowmobile <br />issues in the City. <br /> <br />Norma Essex of7333 Old Mill Road was present to voice her concerns about the lack of respect <br />given from snowmobilers. She indicated the snowmobiles ride on City sidewalks, along the creek <br />and have left unwanted objects in her property. Ms. Essex would like to see snowmobile <br />restrictions implemented and enforced. <br /> <br />Mike Carter of6913 Sumac Court was present to voice his concerns about snowmobiles safety <br />and right-of-ways in the City. Mr. Carter indicated that recently a snowmobile did not stop at an <br />intersection, causing Mr. Carter to stop abruptly missing the snowmobile by less then three feet. <br />Mr. Carter questioned the use of traffic signal devices, and pointed out residents along Center <br />Street are putting up "posts" to keep snowmobilers off of their property. Mr. Carter placed a <br />phone call the Tri-City Police Department questioning what could be done to improve <br />snowmobile enforcement. Mr. Carter was told by the CPLPD there was nothing they could do <br />since the officers in cars cannot catch snowmobilers on a sled. Mr. Carter stated somebody is <br />going to get killed, and requests Council reconsider where snowmobiles are allowed to ride, <br />keeping them off the streets and on the trails. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson stated she is experiencing the same problems the prior two residents <br />have expressed. Council Member Nelson indicated she has installed and replaced a snow fence on <br />one side of her house twice so far this year, and now the snowmobiles are driving across the back <br />yard and her driveway. Council Member Nelson stated snowmobiles ruins the sod. Although she <br />has tried to identify the riders, she has not been able to identify the snowmobilers. Council <br />Member Nelson has received phone calls from several residents in reference to snowmobile safety. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson reported speaking to Chief Joel Heckman earlier in the day. Chief <br />Heckman indicated the police department, conducted a "sting" last Friday in conjunction with the <br />DNR and City ofLino Lakes. The sting resulted in twenty-three written warnings, nineteen <br />citations and two arrests. Chief Heckman feels most of the trouble seems to be on Main Street. <br />He advised, whether the snowmobile can be identified or not, the residents place phone calls to <br /> <br />Page 2 of 6 <br />
