She also suggested that when a new business comes to <br />Centerville, the EDC place an ad welcoming them or they could periodically <br />recognize existing businesses. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber stated in a past newsletter an article was published on Eagle <br />Trucking, which he thinks is of interest to Centerville's residents to keep them <br />informed. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers stated most business professionals woul~ be <br />willing to attend a meeting to talk about services they provide. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber suggested that at the Business Appreciation Dinner, businesses <br />be asked to introduce themselves and comment on what they would like to get <br />from the EDC. <br /> <br />Mr. March noted that Centerville is a small community so there can be frustration <br />resulting when additions are already underway before they contact the City Hall <br />and learn a permit is required. <br /> <br />Mary Capra stated the EDC has changed in its membership and after the design <br />team project and follow-up visits, there was some downtime used to reorganize. <br />She agreed the EDC can evolve into a group that better serves the community <br />businesses. She asked if the EDC should prepare some recommendations for <br />Council consideration. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson asked the EDC to talk with businesses to determine what <br />they are looking for and then the EDC can decide what they want to do and if they <br />want to change their role. <br /> <br />Ms. Capra commented on a State survey that was conducted and suggested that a <br />similar survey be distributed at the upcoming Business Appreciation Dinner to <br />gather additional input. <br /> <br />Council Member Travis stated he is hearing negative comments toward the City <br />Council at EDC meetings about issues considered by the Council such as a recent <br />approval on a setback variance. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson stated she is thrilled with all the EDC has accomplished <br />and contributed to Centerville. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber stated that appreciation goes to all of the City's committees who <br />contribute greatly. <br /> <br />Resolution 00-09 - Business Subsidy Policy <br /> <br />Mr. March indicated the City has to adopt a formal Business Subsidy Policy to stay <br />in compliance with State law.
