February 19, 2007

Peltier lake Spring

While viewing the video at home I timed each of the three fills from seal to spout. Then
documented the times. I viewed the video three times. I then added the results and averaged the
times giving me a number of 2.83 seconds to fill the half gallon bottle.

2.83 seconds per half gallon. Times this by 2 to get seconds per gallon.

5.66 seconds per gallon. Divide this by 60 to get how many gallons per minute.

10.60 gallons per minute. Time this by 60 to get how many gallons per hour.

636.04 gallons per hour. Times tMs by 24 to get gallons per day.

15,265 gallons per day. Times this by 365 to get gallons per year.

5,571 ,7225 gallons per year.

Granted this is a one day measure and I would need to measure this once a month to be more
accurate, but this might give us an idea of how many gallons we could hope to be getting from our
'hidden spring'.

I did one other thing while at the spring. I also took a % oz. fishing sinker and fishing line and
dropped it in the hole to get a rough measure of the depth of pipe. When the sinker stopped I
lifted it up about a foot and dropped it back down a couple of time to make sure it had bottomed
out. I then pulled out the line and measured it. 19.5 feet. Assuming that the sinker did hit
bottom it's not very deep at all.
