<br />City of Ccnterville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 14,2007 <br /> <br />Mr. Tonding stated this is a living document that could be updated over time. He stated <br />the requirement from FEMA is that it be updated not later than five years after adoption. <br />He indicated that the City is not bound to do items identified in plan. He suggested the <br />City decide what could theoretically be taken on. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated projects often impact the tax payers as they are unfunded events. <br /> <br />Council Member Lakso expressed it is a good plan and would not want to jeopardize <br />funding. She indicated she found out a great deal about neighboring communities. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Bennett stated he was asked to identify and establish priorities in the identified <br />risk areas. He mentioned this was a best guess effort at the time and priorities change as <br />the events of the world change. <br /> <br />Mr. Tonding responded the City might be more apt to identify projects specific to the <br />City. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra asked Council Members to contact Fire Chief Bennett if there is something <br />they want to add to the plan. <br /> <br />Police Chief Makela stated he would be available for questions and encouraged residents <br />to go to the Anoka County website for emergency management information. He stated a <br />list of emergency preparedness items is available on the website. <br /> <br />Commissioner Lakso asked if the Anoka County shelter was the closest to Centerville or <br />was there anything closer. <br /> <br />Mr. Tonding replied the County identifies the locations for congregate care and the Red <br />Cross takes care of the congregate care areas. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated that based on the information received, the emergency preparedness <br />document from the Department of Homeland Security dealing with a medical event is <br />well written. She state this should be given to the local businesses as a point of reference. <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson asked about the charts on pages 175 and 176. He indicated he <br />believes there are many mistakes here and recommended the list be corrected. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard recommended the City Council write down changes they <br />would like made to the document and submit them to Administrator Larson. <br /> <br />2.
