'.'. , <br /> <br />Dear Jodi McGregor: <br /> <br />I am in receipt of your letter of 9118/03 wherein yo'u requested use of the all-purpose <br />recreational area at Lexington Memorial Park for dry land arid outdoor hockey practice <br />for the 2003 -2004 season. ' ' '. <br /> <br />The sched~le; TuesdaY. ana Thursday 6 - 9 P.M. and 'Saturday 8~ '11 A.M will be <br />acceptable. . <br /> <br />In reviewing last years operations the City had greatly extended its parks budget in an <br />a1tempt to develop and maintain an appropriate ice sheet. Most of the work was <br />completed in the evening or early morning hours by employees on overtime. <br /> <br />The State Legislature has mandated large cuts in state aid for 2003. which were not <br />budgeted for, and again in 2004, As a result of those cuts I will not authorize overtime <br />for City employees to work on the rink during the upcoming season. <br />. <br /> <br />Please understand, our first priority for our 2 public works employees during ice season is <br />not the upkeep of the LMP ice rink. Knowing this up front. I expect the number of <br />complaints by your coaches and parepts will subside. <br /> <br />.. . <br /> <br />In order to guarantee that there 'NiB be sufficient ice, the CYHA may wish to make <br />arrangements with the City to get involved with the upkeep of the Le:cingtoD Memorial <br />Park rink.
