All in favor. Motion carried unanimously

VIT. UPDATES

Subcommittees

Grants

Vice-Chairperson LeBlanc updated the committee on the progress of the Grant Subcommittee.
Anoka County had sent Chairperson Peterson a Regional Trail Map to be reviewed, making
corrections if necessary. The deadline to return the corrections to Anoka County was today,
January 7, 2004. Vice-Chairperson LeBlanc delivered the map and met with Mr. Nick Elofl'.
Mr. Eloff stated that he is available to help the committee with the grant process and said the
committee needs to make sure monies were allocated in the budget for a matching grant, as that
is part ofthe grant process. A motion will need to be made to allocate the matching funds if the
grant application were to be accepted. Chairperson Peterson reminded the committee that the
entire project needs to be paid for by the City and once the project is completed the amount of
the grant will be reimbursed to the City. A motion will be made concerning this at the February
Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting, as the subcommittee needs to gather more information.
It was discussed that the motion needs to be worded in such a way as to meet the grant without
having City Council commit to specific trail allocations at this time. Committee Member Seeley
stated the amount will have to be an estimate, but as accurate as possible. Council Member Lee
requested the tentative estimate be supplied to him before the next City Council Meeting and he
will pass this information on to the City Council. A copy of the minutes, when approved, need
to be attached to the grant application.

The subcommittee reported that everyone involved in the process has been enthusiastic and it
could actually be a possibility to get a grant for this trail project. The committee discussed who
should be listed as a contact person on the grant application as it asks for a 'Unit of Government'.

20f4
