<br />" <br /> <br />REGIONAL TRAIL GRANT PROGRAM <br />Information Sheet <br />2005 <br /> <br />Deadlines/ Applications must be received no later than February 28, 2005. Pending the availability <br />Important of funds, reimbursement grant awards will be announced no later than July 2005. <br />Dates: <br />Program The primary purpose of this program is to promote development of regionally <br />Introduction: significant trails. Primary determinants of significance include length, expected use, <br /> and resource quality/attractiveness. <br />How It works: Provides reimbursement grants to local units of government for trail projects or serves <br /> as a partial local "match" for a TEA-2l Enhancement project. <br />Eligible Land acquisition and trail development. Priority will be given to projects that provide a <br />Activities: useable trail. Land purchased with this fund will require a "perpetual easement for <br /> recreational trail purposes," and trails developed with these funds will require a twenty- <br /> year maintenance commitment by the project sponsor. Projects inside state park <br /> boundaries and state trail corridors are ineligible. <br />Eligible Cities, counties and townships. <br />Applicants: <br />Local Support: Local/area support must be demonstrated by providing resolution, or minutes of council <br /> hearing. <br />Local Match: Fifty percent (50%) "cash match" for eligible elements of the project proposal is <br /> required. <br /> . Neither this funding source nor the cash match can be used for in-house labor <br /> services and/or to meet existing payroll (i.e., only contract services, materials <br /> and supplies are reimbursable) <br /> . Federal Recreational Trail Grant Program, Local Trail Connections <br /> Grant Program and Metropolitan Council Funds are not eligible cash <br /> matches for this program. <br />Grant Project proposal maximum requests can result in no more than $250,000 of <br />Amount: reimbursement. <br />Project Period: Funded projects will need to begin promptly after an agreement has been completed <br /> between the State and the applicant. Projects must be completed prior to June 30, <br /> 2006. All components of the project must be completed by this date. This period <br /> may be extended for projects receiving TEA-2l Enhancement funding. <br />Disbursement: Grants are reimbursable.
