For your information, we received 42 grant applications for projects that requested an estimated $2.5 million. All of these projects were competing for about $550,000 that was available. The selection process for this grant program has recently come to an end. I regret to inform you that your project has not been selected for funding this year. Even though your project is a good one, there was too much competition for the small amount of funds that were available this year. We appreciate your interest in our grant program. Moreover, we appreciate the interest in building, enhancing and maintaining trails. Trails have a great impact on the community and on the residents themselves. The solicitation cycle for new funds will begin again in December, and you will be receiving a packet from the Department at that time. We hope that you will consider applying again.
