City of Centerville

Back to Web Site

City of Centerville
Festival of lakes

The City of Centerville is situated between two (2) lakes, near Wargo Nature
Center and near the NRG Composting Site. We are a community that is
innovative and respectful to the environment, whether we live near the
lakes or in the heart of the downtown area.

Dreaming of Summer?

Go ahead! Get your planting grant application in now so you're ready to plant in
May. The Rice Creek Watershed District (RCWD) is offering cost-share grants for
raingardens, native landscaping and shoreline buffers. All planting grant
applicants will also be eligible for an additional rebate after the planting has been
established!

Native landscaping is a great way to positively impact the environment because
long-rooted native plants save water, protect lakes and rivers from run-off
pollution and provide habitat for native critters while creating a beautifully
landscaped yard.

How do I start? Visit www.ricecreek.org and click on "One-Stop Shopping to
Restore Your Yard & Shore" to familiarize yourself with the project steps. Then
schedule your visit with the RCWD staff to review the project
(ddubats@ricecreek.org or 763-398-3070).

Rice Creek Watershed District 2006 Calendars

The Rice Creek Watershed District has 2006 Calendars available featuring great
nature shots taken within the Rice Creek Watershed District. The photos
displayed in the calendar were taken by the photo contest winners. Come pick
up your complimentary calendar at the RCWD office (located in the "Village of
Blaine" at 35W and Lexington Avenue) containing monthly water quality and lawn
care tips. Submit your photos for next year's calendar. For photo contest rules,
visit the RCWD website (www.ricecreek.org) and click on the "Outreach" tab.

Energy saving investments that will greatly reduce your heating bill.

.
