J~-l 1"

14 B7

Dear Reader,

I am proud to present the park system master plan
and hub site design for the city of Centerville,
Minnesota.

The primary objectives of the master plan are to
eS,tabHsh a park system. throughout Centerville that
encompasses all ptiblically owned properties. and
. ldentifies potential future park land aquisitions
uniting Centerville into a cohesive; safe and aesthetic
whole that provides a variety of recreation
opportunities.

The primary objectives of the hub site design are to
establish a city center that connects Central Park.
City Hall. Centervi11e elementary school. the lake
front and other p~blic spaces while establishing a
sense of entry into the hub where there is pedestrian
priority.

I am confident that this plan and site design will
accomplish these objectives. While working on this
project I received input from the City of Centervi11e
city council, the park and recreation commission. and
planning 'and zoning commission, the Centennial
Independent School District. the AnokaCounty
Regional Parks Department, the Metropolitan Council.
the Rice Creek Watershed District, the Minnesota
Department of Natural Resources. the St. Paul Water
Works Department and the residents of Centerville

I rece'ived much guidance from the Department of
Landscape - Architecture faculty, with special
assistance from Lance Neckar Other critical input
was gained from Norm Hlldrum. Landscape Architect
and for the Corp of Engineers and Dennis Welch, City
Planner for White Bear Lake, Minnesota.

Implementation of this plan and site design will
significantly improve future park land acquisitions,
development. and management of Centerville park
properties. Because there is much undeveloped land
yet in Centerville and because its current park
properties are also largely undeveloped at this time, a
plan for future development is timely and clearly in
