The fees outlined in the letter had a not-to-exceed fee for design and construction services of
$16,000 along with additional services estimates for permits and easements. The scope of work did not
include administering a bid or the design and construction of a turn lane. These additions to the scope will
require additional engineering costs.

As you are aware, typical engineering costs for basic design and construction services tend to range from
14-17% of the construction contract amount depending on the complexity of the project. The current
estimate for this project is roughly $210,000. Since this project is fairly straightforward, a fee equating to
around 14% would be appropriate. Therefore, we request an additional $13,400 ($13,400+$16,000=
$29,400 = 14% of $210,000) be added to our not-to-exceed fee for the design, bidding and construction
services associated with this project.

Please feel free to call with any questions.

Sincerely,

80[\]ESTROO

/1./ xr

Mark Statz, PE
City Engineer
651-604-4709

Attachment:

Original Scope of Services and Fee Letter

copy:

RJG - Bonestroo

st.
