Memo...

TO: Honorable Mayor and Council Members

FROM: Teresa Bender, City Clerk

SUBJECT: May 12, 2007 Clean-Up Days/SCORE Fund Usage
DATE: April 9, 2007

The City of Centerville would like to offer a Spring Clean-up with no fees for the following
items:

Tires & Tires with Rims
Electronics
Small TV
Medium TV
Large TV
Console TV
CPU
DVD or VCR Player
Misc. Small Electronics
Lead Acid Batteries (Auto)
Florescent Lightbulbs

Total estimated expenditures associated with this year's Spring Cleanup would be $3,000-
$5,000. Last year's expenditures were approximately $2,000. However, it is important to keep
in mind that these are estimates and this is the first time we are offering an event such as this.

Council may desire to place a limit on how many electronics are accepted from one (1)
household. (Electronics are the most expensive items to recycle and by law, should not be
placed in the garbage) This would deter a household from bringing electronics from another
location to our event.

This event is for Centerville residents only and they must provide proof of residency at time of
drop-off

The event will be held on May 12,2007 (8:00 - 4:00 p.m.) at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park in
the parking lot.

This year we have a new recycler that will be on hand, Mr. Michael Recycles Bicycles. Mike &
Benita Warns obtain bicycles from numerous avenues, repair or part them out; give them away to
individuals who are unable to purchase new or used bicycles or sell the used parts to fund their
donations. Bring those unused, out-grown bicycles down for recycling!

,yI~ tL
