P~(651) 429-8629 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #07-012 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING 2007 THE YEAR TO GET READY & <br />SUPPORT THE AMERICAN RED CROSS IN THEIR EFFORTS TO PREPARE <br />RESIDENTS FOR DISASTER OR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS <br /> <br />Whereas, a survey conduded by the American Red Cross in 2006 found that the <br />majority of Americans have not taken even the basic steps needed to prepare for a <br />disaster or an emergency situation; and <br /> <br />Whereas, disaster can strike quickly and without warning and being prepared is crucial <br />to saving lives at home>> in schoo~ at work and in the community; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the best way to be prepared for a house fire>> tornado>> or other disaster is for <br />individuals and families to have an emergency plan; and <br /> <br />Whereas, a disaster kit with enough supplies for each family member for three days can <br />help your family in a winter sto~ pandemic flu, or other disaster when access to <br />supplies might become limited; and <br /> <br />Whereas, children and adults trained in First Aid and CPR save lives and make our <br />communities safer; and <br /> <br />Whereas, The Twin Cities Area Chapter of the American Red Cross through its <br />Community Challenge has offered to assist our community to prev~ prepare for and <br />respond to emergencies. <br /> <br />Now, Therefore, I, Mary Capra, Mayor of the City ofCentervill~ Minnesota do hereby <br />proclaim 2007 the Year to "GET READY!" and call upon local residents to Get a Plan, <br />Get a Kit, and Get Involved to help save lives in our community. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City ofCenterville this 11th day of Apri~ 2007. <br /> <br />c-~::J ~ <br /> <br />. <br />City CI~ Teresa Bender <br /> <br />~ C <br />Mayor.~ ~ <br /> <br />- <br />
