<br />Environmental Partnerships Grant Program <br />Information Sheet - 2003 Application Cycle <br /> <br />Program purpose <br /> <br />How it works <br /> <br />Eligible <br />applicants <br /> <br />Eligible projects <br /> <br />Program funding <br /> <br />Grant awards <br /> <br />Project period <br /> <br />To apply <br /> <br />Further <br />Information <br /> <br />To encourage environmental projects and related education activities through public <br />and private partnerships. <br /> <br />Provides grants to private organizations and local units of government for up to 50% <br />of the cost of conducting environmental projects and related education activities. <br /> <br />Private organizations, counties, cities, townships, and school districts. <br /> <br />Eligible projects include but are not limited to: community environmental service <br />projects to clean up natural areas such as streams, lakes and wetlands; prepare and <br />produce environmental education products such as handbooks, manuals, videos and <br />newsletters; and develop educational sites and exhibits that demonstrate <br />environmental conservation principles. Creative project ideas that meet the program <br />purpose above are encouraged. Grant funds cannot be used to fund curricula or <br />existing staff and program activities. <br /> <br />A maximum of 50% of the total eligible project costs. Applicants must be able to fund <br />at least 50% of the total project costs. The "local share" can consist of cash or the <br />value of materials, labor and equipment usage by the local sponsor or by donations or <br />any combination thereof. Costs must be incurred and paid for before reimbursement <br />can be made. Applicants are eligible to receive more than one grant. <br /> <br />The Department ofNahlral Resources will review and rank proposals during the <br />summer of2003. Grant awards will be announced in the fall of2003. <br /> <br />Funded projects must begin promptly after an agreement between the State and the <br />applicant has been signed. Most projects can expect to begin in the Spring of 2004 <br />and all work must be completed no later than December 31, 2005. <br /> <br />To receive an application, please submit an Application Request Form. We <br />recommend that the Application Request Form be submitted no later than March 31, <br />2003. Applications will be mailed after March 31.
