Neighborhood Crime Watch groups <br />play a big-role in assisting our officers with keeping our neighborhoods sam. <br /> <br />NatlODAI NWtt Out <br /> <br />Natiomd Night Out is held on the first Tuesday in August every year. This year our eJlies <br />bad another great turn out amsideriDg the rainy weather. Our ofJicers visited D.1IIDeJ.'OUS <br />scheduJed block parties in Circle Pines (7), Lexington (4), and Centerville (4). ResidetJha <br />were able to address ofticers about crime c:oncems and new events in the commuDity. <br />Goodie bags filled with 911 books, penc:iJs, baseball and hockey cards, stickers and <br />~lets were btmdecJ out to children in an eftbrt to promote safety and crime prevention. <br />Our residents were also greeted by McGrutJthe Crime Dog and Batman who taught ldds <br />how to say no to drugs. <br /> <br />o <br />... <br /> <br />~"'luamood CrIme Watch <br /> <br />Neighborhood Crime Watch groups bring neighbors togttber in hopes of preventing <br />crime in their communities. These orgPiwod groups watch out :lbr one another. In order <br />to stay active in the Crime Watch orpni7.Rtinu these groups must hold meetings twice a <br />year. One of these meetings is an infbrmational meeting usually held in the spriDg; the <br />other is more of a social meeting held on National Night Out. Participants must also be <br />involved in Operation Identification. Operation m is a system of 1ft~ valuable <br />property with a specific number assigned by the police cL.pmt.alent. When property is <br />recovered, officers can then trace it back to the owner and ensure a timely return of the <br />property. Cummtly there are over twenty neiglthnrbood crime watch groups in our <br />jurisdiction. We are bopiDg to add many more of our resideDtA to these Neighborhood <br />Crime Watch groups in 20CY1. <br /> <br />I' -! <br /> <br />BIeftle U-- <br /> <br />The CentenniqJ Lakes Police ~tment urges residents to liaDe their bicyC1es. These <br />licenses are issued at the pllice c1gpmbnelit at no cost to ~P.nb1 of Lexington, Circle <br />Pines and CeDterviIle. This makes the recognition of recovered bicycles easier tbr the <br />depa.:tuMd.
