The project will require connection to a public water supply and installation of new 12- inch water main along Main Street and individual water connections. The city's water supply, storage and distribution system has been designed to accommodate projected growth within the City as outlined in the Comprehensive Plan. As the City develops and redevelops, additional water supply wells will be necessary. Due to the shallow depth of groundwater in some areas, dewatering may be necessary in some areas during construction. A temporary water appropriations permit will be obtained form the DNR if volumes to be dewatered are such that a permit is required. A search through the records of the County Well Index (CWI) indicated that there are 25 known wells located within the project area. All of these wells are domestic use (residential) wells. None of the identified wells appear to pump large enough quantities of water as to require a DNR appropriations permit. The majority of the wells are completed in the drift aquifer and are less than 100 feet in depth. Three bedrock-aquifer wells are completed at depths ranging from 92-106 feet. If wells exist in the 10
