City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />September 12, 2007 <br /> <br /> <br />3.Soil Boring Contract for 2009 Street Project <br /> <br />City Attorney Glaser explained that Stork agreed to increase their professional liability <br />insurance to $5 million. He stated that the City had two choices: to accept the contract <br />with Stork or to accept the bid from Braun whose fees are double those of Stork. <br /> <br />City Engineer Statz stated that he viewed the liability as twofold: what damage could be <br />done doing soil borings and the professional liability in the information provided to the <br />City. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Lakso, seconded by Council Member Paar, to accept <br />Stork as the contractor only in the event they accept unlimited liability, if not, to <br />accept the bid from Braun. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />VIII. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br />1.2008 Preliminary General Fund Budget (September 12, 2007) <br /> <br /> <br />a.Resolution #07-033 – Approving Proposed 2008 Budget & Tax Levy <br /> <br />Finance Director Meyer presented the 2008 Budget and Tax Levy. He stated a Truth-in- <br />Taxation public hearing is scheduled for December 12, 2007, with the continuation hearing <br />tentatively set for December 19, 2007, if needed. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard, seconded by Council Member Paar, to <br />approve Resolution #07-033, a Resolution approving the proposed 2008 Budget of the <br />General Fund for $2,441,600, Expenditure Revenues for $465,000, and a Tax Levy of <br />$1,985,600. A Public Hearing for Truth-in-Taxation shall be set for December 12, <br />2007. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Planning and Zoning Commission Findings & Recommendation for Conditional <br />th <br />Use Permit (Bennett & Koch Construction, LLC/Will Lessard) – 6995 – 20 <br />Avenue South (Construction Business Operation in B-1 – Commercial Zoning <br />District) <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson summarized the site plan and the permit as drafted. <br /> <br />Councilmember Broussard summarized the discussion on this topic during the Planning <br />and Zoning Commission meeting on August 7, 2007. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued. <br />Page 4 of 7 <br />
