CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />EMERGENCY CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> August 14, 2007 <br />8:00 a.m. <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held an emergency meeting on <br />August 14, 2007, at City Hall, 1880 Main Street. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />Mayor Mary Capra <br /> Tom Lee <br /> Council Member Linda Broussard <br /> Council Member Jeff Paar arrived @ 8:08 a.m. <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br />Council Member Michelle Lakso <br /> <br />STAFF: <br />Public Works Director Paul Palzer <br />Centennial Lakes Police Officer Kris Carlson <br />City Clerk Teresa Bender <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Capra called the August 14, 2007, Emergency City Council meeting to order at <br /> 8:05 a.m. <br /> <br /> <br />II.PURPOSE OF EMERGENCY MEETING <br /> <br />During the evening of August 13, 2007 the City was subjected to torrential rains and <br />straight-line winds which caused extensive damage throughout the City. The purpose of <br />the emergency meeting of the City Council was to discuss issues related to providing <br />community assistance and related to clean-up and repair from the storm damage. <br /> <br /> <br />III.STORM DAMAGE/CENTERVILLE RESIDENTS <br /> <br />Lengthy discussion was had by all members present regarding services to provide to <br />residents during the cleanup efforts. Numerous options were discussed along with liability <br />issues, costs, funding and utilizing staff for services. <br /> <br />Consensus was to only provide services such as Waste Management’s brush removal and <br />the compost site’s services at this time. Council requested that optional services be <br />considered; contacting local emergency officials for potential assistance, contracting for <br />removal of brush/tree debris services for no fee/reduced fees after securing proposals, <br />obtaining suggestions from other communities who have dealt with similar situations, <br />funding, etc. <br /> <br />
