City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />August 22, 2007 <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard, seconded by Council Member Lakso, to <br />Direct Finance Director John Meyer to work with the Minnesota Investment Fund <br />Project on the Kendal Howard Project. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />7.Apply for Reimbursement (SCORE Funds – Anoka County) for Tree/Brush <br />Removal Services <br /> <br />Mayor Capra reported that the City could apply for reimbursement of tree and brush <br />removal service expenses up to the end of the year. The work qualifies for SCORE funds <br />since the trees would be ground to mulch and used in parks. <br /> <br /> Discussion ensued. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Lakso, seconded by Council Member Paar, to direct <br />staff to apply for Reimbursement (SCORE Funds – Anoka County) for Tree/Brush <br />Removal Services. Vote: Ayes 4, Nay 1 (Broussard) Motion carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Lakso, that curbside <br />pick up cease at the end of the day on August 23, 2007and direct staff to use excess <br />funds from of the Emergency Contingency Fund if available or out of the General <br />Fund. Vote: Ayes 4, Nays 1 (Broussard) Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Wes Peterson, 7034 Brian Court, stated that the expressed concern from his <br />neighborhood started when residents called City Hall and were told it was not the City’s <br />problem. He stated an employee of the City of Centerville told them that citations would <br />be given if the trees and brush were not removed. He stated that this is the reason residents <br />paid for their own tree and brush removal. He asked that staff be more receptive to <br />questions from residents. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lee stated that this was the first event for Centerville and everyone <br />learned some lessons. He commented that the trees and brush on personal property are the <br />responsibility of the resident and the City went over and above to assist with the removal. <br /> <br /> Discussion ensued. <br /> <br /> <br />8.Approval of Award of Bids Anoka County CSAH 14 Project – Revised Project <br />Estimate <br /> <br />City Engineer Statz presented a streetscaping bid for $517,000 from North Pine Aggregate. <br />He stated that the bid looks fair and recommended Council approval. <br /> <br />City Engineer Statz presented information on the City’s portion of the cost estimate. He <br />stated that the final cost estimate for the project would be approximately $1.2 million <br />including the downtown streetscaping. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued. <br />Page 7 of 8 <br />
