<br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />ASSESSMENT HEARING/WORKSHOP <br />WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29,1998 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of the City of Centerville held an <br />assessment hearing and workshop on Wednesday, April 29, 1998 in the Council Chambers of City <br />Hall, 1880 Main Street. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br /> <br />Mayor Tom Wilharber <br />Council Members: Theresa Brenner <br />Mary Jo Helmbrecht <br />Sanna Buckbee <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmember Laura Powers <br /> <br />STAFF/CONSULTANT: Jim March, Administrator <br />Ry-Chel Gaustad, City Clerk <br />David Nyberg, City Engineer <br />****************************************************************************** <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber opened the executive session at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Ms. Julie Wolfe (Minnesota Human Rights Department) gave an overview on a pending claim <br />against the City ofCenterville. Ms. Wolfe requested authority to negotiate the best offer for the <br />City. In addition, the proceedings are confidential. However, the settlement is public. <br /> <br />Councilmember Buckbee moved and it was seconded to close the executive session at 5:55 <br />p.m. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber opened the assessment public hearing at 6:05 p.m. Mayor Wilharber noted the <br />assessment public hearing will adjourn by 7:00 p.m. because the Metropolitan Council has <br />scheduled a public hearing on the Centerville interceptor at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Nyberg gave a brief overview of the proposed improvements on the 20th Avenue north <br />sanitary sewer and watermain improvements. The proposed sewer will operate by gravity to the <br />lift station. There will be turf restoration by way of seed and sod. Erosion control measures will <br />be implemented. <br /> <br />Mr. Nyberg noted the project bid was held on April 21, 1998. Bonine Excavating bid <br />$508,790.65. The bid process included an east watermain extension, SCADA/Telemetry System <br />and a directional bore forcemain. Mr. Nyberg addressed three exhibits for the 20th Avenue <br />improvements; first an overall proposed project area, the proposed watermain improvement and <br />last the proposed sanitary sewer improvement. <br />
