The Council discussed the $40,000 cost <br />to ensure the hockey rink and the surrounding area is operational for 1999 winter activities. <br /> <br />Councilmember Buckbee moved to accept BRA proposal (616-98-804) dated September 17. <br />1998 including the amendment to 15' RCP storm sewer. Councilmember Brenner seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />21st Avenue Roadwav Improvement <br />Mr. March initiated a discussion on 21st Avenue roadway improvements and he noted that the <br />City ofLino Lakes wanted to ensure that the project is not delayed. The City ofLino Lakes <br />would like to advertise the project this winter and to have work commence spring of 1999. <br />Councilmember Buckbee noted the 21st Avenue business owners had concern about turn lanes. <br /> <br />Councilmember Buckbee moved to direct City Staff to contact Lino Lakes Staff and inform <br />them that the Centerville City Council authorized bidding for winter of 1999. <br />Councilmember Brenner seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />EmplQyee Benefit Program <br />Councilmember Buckbee inquired about deferred compensation/health benefits for City Staff. <br />Mr. March confirmed Councilmember Buckbee's inquiries that all part-time and full-time <br />employees can either apply their monthly (city) allocation toward health benefits, deferred <br />compensation or a combination of the two. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />Special Use Permit - Peppenger <br />Mr. March commented on a Special Use Permit (SUP) request the City received from Mr. Tim <br />Peppenger, to operate an auto electric repair shop at 7129 20th Avenue North. Mr. March added <br />the Planning and Zoning recommendation was to approve the SUP request. <br /> <br />Councilmember Buckbee moved to approve as the Planning and Zoning recommended to <br />grant the SUP at 7129 20th Avenue. Councilmember Brenner seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Peppenger was present and informed the Council his plan is to open for business on October <br />15, and he will specialize in auto electric services. On behalf of the City, Mayor Wilharber <br />welcomed Mr. Peppenger to Centerville. <br /> <br />Extend Garbage Contract <br />Mr. March reported on the current residential refuse contract.
