<br />A'PPROVED <br /> <br />WORKSHOP MEETING <br />AGENDA <br />MARCH 23, 1999 <br />6:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of the City of Centerville held a <br />workshop on March 23, 1999 at City Hall, 1880 Main Street. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br /> <br />Mayor Torn Wilharber <br />Council Members: Theresa Brenner <br />Mari Nelson <br />Richard Travis <br />Terry Sweeney (arrived at 7:00 p.m.) <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />STAFF: <br /> <br />Jim March, City Administrator <br />Paul Palzer, Public Works Director/Building Official <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber called the March 23, 1999 Workshop meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />1. PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber opened the discussion by questioning future purchases of additional <br />equipment for the city. Mr. Palzer, Public Works Director responded by stating that <br />sometime in the future the city will need a new loader or bobcat. Furthermore, as we add <br />additional staff members, we will need to expand our mowing and park vehicles to <br />maintain our parks at a higher level then we have in the past. Mr. Palzer continued, <br />stating that he would like to see the city purchase a used snowplow truck for the heavier <br />snow falls. <br /> <br />Councilmember Nelson addressed the issue of the number of employees and questioned <br />Mr. Palzer what he thought might be needed. Mr. Palzer indicated that it is hard to tell at <br />this point, that it will depend on the service needs of the city. Currently, we have two full <br />time public works employees besides Mr. Palzer. The City also has one full time building <br />inspector. Future staffing needs cannot be determined at this point. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber explained that the building analysis was currently completed on March <br />19, 1999. The analysis lists the four different options available and reviews the city's <br />development. Mr. March explained that the analysis included input from NIT. Palzer, Tim <br />Danielson, and Robert Westerlund from the Public Works Department. Although the <br />analysis is complete, a couple of other options have surfaced. One would be to possibly <br />do something on the site behind City Hall. The other would be to possibly develop the <br />
