<br />Motion by Council member Broussard Vickers, seconded by Council member Travis to set the <br />a2enda. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />VII. PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS <br /> <br />VIII. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br />Fireanns Ordinance <br /> <br />Mr. March informed the Council ofthe changes suggested by the attorney and the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission. <br /> <br />Mr. AI LaMotte spoke against the lot size limit for shooting bow and arrows. <br /> <br />Councilmember Sweeney stated that he is against the lot size limit for bow and arrows and the <br />discharging ofBB guns and would vote against this ordinance if the sections were not removed. <br /> <br />Council member Broussard Vickers stated that the ordinance is meant to provide safety for the <br />community. <br /> <br />It was suggested that the City provide a place for the target range. Mayor Wilharber asked the City <br />Attorney about the liability for the City. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft stated that the liability for the City would be great and the insurance carrier could <br />provide the coverage, but that it will be expensive because it is considered a dangerous activity. <br /> <br />There was discussion about a non-profit sports club and if the City wanted to contribute to the running of <br />a range, then the liability would be removed from the City. <br /> <br />Mr. March stated that if the ordinance passed he would contact Anoka County about the possibility of <br />establishing an archery range in the County Park. <br /> <br />Motion by Council member Broussard Vickers. seconded by Council member Travis to pass <br />Ordinance No.5. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE #5 TO PROTECT AND <br />PRESERVE THE PUBLIC'S SAFETY BY REGULATING THE DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS <br />AND DANGEROUS WEAPONS WITHIN THE CITY OF CENTERVILLE and rec02nizin2 that <br />there are chan2es that people will not tike. but it is bein2 done for public safety. <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers Broussard Vickers. Travis and Mayor Wilharber <br />NAYS: Councilmember Sweeney <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft informed the Council that in order to publish the Title and Summary it takes a <br />unanimous vote to pass the resolution; otherwise the ordinance will have to be published in its entirety. <br /> <br />Motion by Council member Travis. seconded by Council member Broussard Vickers to adopt <br />Resolution No. 99-22.
