<br />~ <br /> <br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> <br />APRIL 23, 1997 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of the City of Centerville held a Senior <br />Housing Workshop and their regularly scheduled Council Meeting on April 23, 1997, at City Hall. <br />Mayor Tom Wilharber called the Senior Housing Workshop to order at 5:00 P.M. <br /> <br />PRESENT: Tom Wilharber <br />Mary Jo Helmbrecht <br />Theresa Brenner <br />Sanna Buckbee <br /> <br />ABSENT: Laura Powers-Rasmussen <br /> <br />STAFF/CONSULTANTS: Jim March, City Administrator <br />Ry-Chel Gaustad, City Clerk <br />Greg Hellings, City Attorney <br /> <br />--------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />--------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber stated the purpose of this workshop is to discuss senior housing. <br />Councilmember Brenner planned to respond to the Barett's proposal and give an update from <br />Frank Dunbar and Tim Yantos. <br /> <br />Councilmember Brenner explained the senior housing construction quotation was $50,000 more <br />than the original quotation. Councilmember Brenner and Mr. March suggested a $200 pre-lease <br />deposit to hold a spot on the tenant list, if the city decides to start construction in October. <br />Councilmember Brenner explained Centerville residents and their relatives will be considered first. <br /> <br />Mr. March reported the market study was very conservative. Further, Mr. Dunbar mentioned the <br />construction costs have increased since the original quote and in December they may increase <br />again. However, Anoka County plans to approach the union and request the labor cost/wage be <br />reconsidered at a lesser rate. <br /> <br />Councilmember Brenner recalled the single bedroom unit rent was $450- $500 per month, the one <br />bedroom with a den unit was about $510 - $575 and the two bedroom units rents at about $585 - <br />$650. Mr. March commented the Senior Housing complex may cost 1.1 million dollars. <br />Councilmember Helmbrecht asked, "Where would the funds come from to purchase the <br /> <br />1 <br />
