<br />Waterworks <br />MOTION by Mayor Wilharber to table the Waterworks issue until the December 10, 1997 <br />Council meeting. Motion seconded by Councilmember Brenner. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Councilmember Powers requested the City Attorney be present at the next meeting. <br /> <br />Elementary School Crosswalk <br />Mr. Bonkowske briefed the Council on the cost and availability of flashing traffic signs for the <br />Elementary School Crosswalk. Currently, Mr. Bonkowske observed several school zone signs <br />indicating the school zone. However, flashing lights may prevent any unforseen hazards or <br />accidents. Mr. Bonkowske suggesting the City purchase flashing traffic signals from Brown <br />Traffic because they are less expensive. However, shipping and handling will take two to four <br />weeks longer and there may be an installation delay due to the frozen ground. Mr. Bonkowske <br />commented Officer Gleason noted overhead cross walk signals are becoming obsolete since <br />people take their eyes off the road to look at the overhead signals. <br /> <br />Councilmember Powers suggested installing the pedestal poles from Brown Traffic. <br /> <br />MOTION by Mayor Wilharber to authorize Staff to contact the Police Department, Lino Lakes, <br />Anoka County, Elementary School and the School Board and receive input for approval and <br />possibly supporting funds. Also, Staff should inquire about an installation quote from an <br />electrical contractor. Motion seconded by Councilmember Powers. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />t <br /> <br />Councilmember Powers commented the Lions Club may contribute funds toward the installation <br />of the flashing lights. <br /> <br />Extension of the Internship Tenure <br />Mr. March explained the internship position expired mid-November. However, the City is <br />updating the zoning ordinance and matching grants are available with in-kind labor or matching <br />funds. Mr. March envisioned Mr. Bonkowske researching several zoning issues and working on <br />ordinance drafts. Mr. March requested the internship position be extended to March 1, 1998. <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilmember Brenner to extend Troy Bonkowske's internship with the City until <br />March 1, 1998. Motion seconded by Mayor Wilharber. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1998 License Renewal <br />MOTION by Mayor Wilharber to preliminary approve the 1998 licenses submitted, contingent <br />upon Council's final approval.
