Executive Summary
The year of 1996 again was a year where we were able to increase our Safety
Awareness programs and have a minimal amount of fire loss.

Safety Education:
The Safety Education and Fire Prevention programs continue to serve more people
each year. These activities are described in detail in the Safety Education Section.
We participated in the third annual Safety Camp which was held on August 1, 1996.
This is a cooperative effort of Circle Pines/Lexington Police Department, Lino Lakes
Police Department, Lino Lakes Park and Recreation, Centennial Fire District, and
Lexington Fire Department.

Training:
We have an ongoing training program in place which provides semi-monthly training for
the members. In addition, we had several members attend classes held elsewhere.
We also held a series of management classes for the officers or potential officers.

Emergency Runs:
Our run volume again increased significantly during the year giving us a total of 889
runs or an eighteen percent increase. Again, a large percentage of the increase is due
to carbon monoxide alarms and natural gas leaks.

~

Stations:
There has not been any changes in any of the buildings. Although, we are exploring
the upgrading of Circle Pines Station One.

Membership:
The current membership level is fifty (50) firefighters. We always have to watch the
staffing during the day hours. This issue did improve during 1996.

Equipment:
We received a new pumper at Station Three that had been ordered in 1994. This is a
valuable addition to the fleet.

Summary:
1996 was another year where we continued to improved all aspects of our operations.
We set some goals for 1996 and accomplished two of the three following items:

1. We improved our preplan program and published the first preplan book that is
carried in each of our vehicles.

2.

The third annual Safety Camp was held and that was a cooperative effort of the
Circle Pines/Lexington Police Department, Lino Lakes Police Department, Lino
Lakes Park and Recreation, Lexington Fire Department, and Centennial Fire
District.
Although we worked on the ISO rating, we did not complete this project.

~

3.
