Membershig, The Centennial Fire District is made up of fifty (50) dedicated firefighters. These members do this work on a paid for call basis and have other jobs support themselves and their families. During the year, we had five people leave the department for various reasons. We added seven new people. All of the new people completed the 140 hour firefighter course as well as a 40 hour medical course. Four out of the seven new people are day available which has helped with our daytime response. There was some reorganization done during the year in the Fire Marshal's area. We eliminated the position of Fire Marshal and one of the Assistant Fire Marshal's position. We created the position of Safety Education Coordinator as well as Preplan Specialist. These changes were made to better reflect what we are doing as well as streamline reporting. Training Staff: The training staff consists of three members who plan and coordinate the training activities for the department. This group works closely with the station officers of the department to select areas of needed training. The training staff consists of the following members: [ Glen Olson Bob Berg Brian Colvard Training Chief Training Officer Training Officer In addition to the above, each station officer is a trained instructor and has completed a course from the National Fire Academy for instruction. There are also several CPR instructors on the department who provide CPR courses for the public. Fire Prevention And Safety Staff: It should be noted that all of our firefighters get involved in safety education in some way. These are people who work regularly in these positions: Kathy Mischke Safety Education Coordinator Thierry Chevallier Fire Inspector Marc Stark Preplan Specialist Water Rescue: There is a group of our members who train for water and ice rescue. This group is headed by District Chief Art Mohler. It should be stated that we have been busy this winter with "snowmobile through the ice" incidents and just before Christmas we rescued three individuals who had gone through the ice on their snowmobiles. Future Staffing: The present level of fifty (50) firefighters is about right but as turnover happens we will concentrate on daytime help for Station One located in Circle Pines and Station Two located in Lino Lakes.
