<br />~ <br /> <br />Main Street Safety Study <br />Officer Todd Gleason (Circle Pines/ Lexington Police Department) reported the results of the <br />Main Street safety study and video. Officer Gleason suggested Council view the video on the <br />large screen television in the Fire Station. Mayor Wilharber noted ifMnDOT performs a traffic <br />study on Main Street and finds the speed is too low, they can request an increase in the speed <br />limit. Therefore, Mayor Wilharber stressed the need for residents to contact area senators and <br />representatives indicating the Main Street concern. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber announced the Council will adjourn to view the Main Street traffic video at the <br />Fire Station. <br /> <br />The Council meeting reconvened at 6:34 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber informed the audience the Council and citizens adjourned to the Fire Station to <br />watch the Main Street traffic video presented by Officer Gleason. <br /> <br />Officer Gleason reported the school zone notification is visually limited to approaching traffic. <br />Officer Gleason recommended improving signage to give notice to drivers on both sides of Main <br />Street indicating a school zone. Also, Officer Gleason recommended traffic flashing lights <br />between Main Street and Progress Road signifying a school crosswalk. <br /> <br />t <br /> <br />Councilmember Buckbee suggested asking Margaret Langfeld attend the School Board Meeting <br />to ensure action. Mayor Wilharber accepted the video tapes and thanked the Police Officers for <br />their time and input. <br /> <br />Snowmobile Issue <br />Officer Mike Jensen (Circle Pines/ Lexington Police Department) briefed the Council on the Main <br />Street snowmobile issue. Officer Gleason recommended the City implement 10 mph speed limit <br />on Main Street by way of ordinance or resolution. Councilmember Helmbrecht questioned the <br />Police Department patrolling with the new snowmobile machine. Officer Jensen reported the <br />Department plans to patrol with one snowmobile and one car. <br /> <br />Councilmember Helmbrecht mentioned the Park and Recreation Committee noted problems with <br />snowmobiles in Acorn Creek Park. Officer Jensen said the Department can pay special attention <br />to the park area. <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilmember Helmbrecht to approve snowmobile use from Centerville Road to <br />20th Avenue, and directed Staff to develop a resolution to include snowmobile traffic flow with <br />vehicular traffic. Motion seconded by Councilmember Brenner. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Waterworks Recommendations for CPLPD <br />Mayor Wilharber explained he spoke to Mr. Rich DeFoe (owner of Waterworks Beach Club). <br />Mayor Wilharber added, Mr. DeFoe agreed to the Chiefs recommendations, however, he was <br /> <br />5 <br />
