<br />t <br /> <br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> <br />WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 8, 1997 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, an engineering review workshop and a regular meeting of <br />the Centerville City Council was called to order by Acting Mayor Mary J 0 Helmbrecht at 5: 15 <br />p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Centerville City Hall, 1880 Main Street, on October 8, 1997. <br /> <br />COUNCIL PRESENT: <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Mary Jo Helmbrecht <br />Council Members: <br />Theresa Brenner <br />Laura Powers <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Mayor Tom Wilharber <br />Councilmember Sanna Buckbee <br /> <br />STAFF/CONSULTANTS PRESENT: Administrator Jim March <br />Clerk Ry-Chel Gaustad <br />Public Works Director/Building Inspector Paul Palzer <br />Engineer David Nyberg <br /> <br />***************************************************************************** <br /> <br />ENGINEERING REVIEW WORKSHOP <br /> <br />The Council discussed an action to ensure effective communication between the Council, the Staff <br />and the Engineer. Councilmember Helmbrecht suggested the Engineer execute a "Week in <br />Review" to summarize weekly engineering issues. Councilmember Brenner suggested Mr. <br />Nyberg submit a daily inspection report to City Hall from H.R. Green. Mr. Paul Palzer stated a <br />daily inspection report is a cumbersome task for the Engineering firm and City Staff, since nobody <br />at City Hall can interpret the report from an engineering view point. The Council discussed <br />"Week in Review, " weekly engineering visits and one-on-one sessions with the Building Official <br />and Council as needed. <br /> <br />Councilmember Sanna Buckbee arrived at 5:35 p.m. <br /> <br />Councilmember Powers stressed all employees should be treated with respect and when an <br />employee asks a question, they should not be chastised. Also, Councilmember Powers stressed the <br />whole Council should be made aware of all engineering issues pertaining to the City.
