Powers- Nay. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Set Truth and Taxation Continuation Date <br />MOTION by Helmbrecht to set Truth and Taxation dates on December 10 and 17, 1997. <br />Seconded by Brenner. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Commerical Rubbish Ordinance <br />MOTION by Helmbrecht to table the commercial rubbish ordinance to the September 17 Council <br />meeting. Seconded by Brenner. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Boy Scout Meeting <br />Councilmember Powers asked fellow members if the local Boy Scout pack could hold their <br />meeting in the Council Chambers on September 18, 1997. <br /> <br />MOTION by Wilharber to approve a Boy Scout meeting in the Council Chambers on September <br />18, 1997. Seconded by Brenner. Wilharber, Brenner, Helmbrecht- Aye. Powers- Abstain. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Councilmember Brenner discussed the creation of a subcommittee, the Downtown Revitalization <br />Committee (DRC), from the Economic Development Committee. Councilmember Brenner <br />explained the DRC meetings would include minutes, budget issues, and redevelopment <br />recommendations to Council. Additionally, Brenner suggested a one-year limit to prepare a <br />comprehensive report to the Council. Members for this subcommittee would be appointed by the <br />Economic Development Committee. <br /> <br />MOTION by Helmbrecht to authorize the creation of the Downtown Revitalization <br />subcommittee. Seconded by Brenner. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Joint Police Committee <br />Mayor Wilharber spoke on upcoming budget proposals for the Lexington-Circle Pines-Centerville <br />Police Department. The Police Department needs to be at a 3% increase over last year. Even <br />with this increase, the Mayor explained there will be some cuts, possibly the DARE program, to <br />compensate for municipal levy limits and federal cuts. Additionally, Wilharber informed the <br />Council of the Sheriff's invitation to a open house on September 20, 1997. <br /> <br />~ <br />
