Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Senior Housing <br />Councilmember Brenner reported the Senior Housing Facility has been named the "Chauncey <br />Barett Gardens." <br /> <br />ADMINISTRATION REPORTS <br /> <br />Renewal of M.S. Society Charitable Gambling <br />Mr. March reported the M.S. Society recommended compiling all the gambling revenue into one <br />fund which will be approximately $7,000. <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilmember Helmbrecht to approve the renewal request from the M.S. Society <br />to continue to conduct charitable gambling at Kelly's Korner. Motion seconded by <br />Councilmember Brenner. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />t <br /> <br />Police Contract <br />Mayor Wilharber reported the Police contract has several options for Council consideration. One <br />option utilizes the federal "COPS" grant funds. The "COPS" program pays up to $100,000 for <br />public protection the first year, 75% of the expense the second year and 50% the third year. After <br />the third year the "COPS" program expires, and the City would be financially responsible to <br />support public protection. Another option provides 24 hour protection service. Mr. Walter <br />Neumann (1989 S. Robin Lane) questioned the City's financial responsibility for the lost <br />percentage over the three year decline. Mayor Wilharber replied the City would be responsible <br />for the remaining unpaid percentage. Mayor Wilharber requested the Council's comments, so he <br />can relay the information at the next Police Commission meeting. <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilmember Buckbee to approve the Police Liaison to relay the Council's <br />considerations, contingent upon COPS grant funds availability. Motion seconded by <br />Councilmember Brenner. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />National Night Out - August 5,1997 <br />Mayor Wilharber informed the Centerville residents Tuesday, August 5, at 6:00 p.rn. is the <br />designated National Night Out. <br /> <br />City Administrators Absence <br />Mayor Wilharber mentioned City Administrator Jim March will be attending child birthing classes <br />on Wednesday nights, therefore, he will miss three Council meetings. <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilmember Buckbee to approve the City Administrator's absence for the <br />desired amount of Council meetings to attend child birthing classes.
