<br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> <br />Wednesday, July 30, 1997 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of the City of Centerville held a <br />workshop and special meeting on July 30, 1997 at City Hall. Mayor Wilharber called the <br />workshop to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br /> <br />Tom Wilharber, Mayor <br />Mary Jo Helmbrecht, Councilmember <br />Theresa Brenner, Councilmember <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Sanna Buckbee, Councilmember <br />Laura Powers, Councilmember <br /> <br />STAFF/CONSULTANTS: Jim March, City Administrator <br />Troy Bonkowske, Intern <br />Randy Hagerty, Recycling Coordinator <br />David Nyberg, City Engineer <br /> <br />WORKSHOP: <br />1998-2002 Residential Refuse Collection Contract <br /> <br />City Administrator March gave a brief introduction of the 1998-2002 Residential Refuse Contract <br />and Intern Bonkowske's involvement in the writing of the document. Mr. Bonkowske gave a <br />summary of the proposals submitted by Ace Solid Waste, Waste Management, Walter's Rubbish, <br />and United Waste Systems. After reviewing these alternatives, Mr. Bonkowske recommended <br />that Waste Management of Blaine, MN be awarded the Contract. <br /> <br />6: 10 p.m.- Councilmember Powers present. <br /> <br />Mr. March spoke of his review of the proposals and recommended Waste Management be <br />awarded the Contract. Mr. Hagerty also recommended Waste Management and suggested the <br />Contract be amended to include different prices for recycling credits. Councilmembers <br />Helmbrecht, Powers and Wilharber disagreed with Mr. Hagerty's suggestion of changing the <br />Contract's recycling credits. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber asked Staffhow price increases were included in the Contract. Mr. Bonkowske <br />explained the Contractor would have to give notice to the City, and then subsequently approved <br />by the Council. Councilmember Powers inquired whether the Contract would allow changes in <br />Contractor service. Mr. Bonkowske explained the Contract is a legal document that the <br />Contractor would be bound to any services included in the Contract. <br /> <br />~ <br />
