<br />Parks & Recreation Committee <br />Meeting Minutes January 2, 2008 <br /> <br />Motion was made by ColDIIIittee Member Selander, seconded by Chairperson Seeley to <br />approve the Deeember 5, 2807 Parks & Recreation CommiUee Meeting Minutes as is. <br />Ayes - 2, Nays - 0, Abstain -1 (Harris) Motion passed. <br /> <br />v. COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Swearine: in of ComlDittee member Patrick Branch <br /> <br />Committee Member Patrick Branch was swore in and welcomed to the committee by <br />Chairperson Seeley. <br /> <br />Tracie McBride Memorial Park Renovations <br /> <br />The committee gave a summary of the Tracie McBride Memorial Park renovations for <br />the benefit of Committee Member Branch. The committee will plan a park tour in April. <br /> <br />Screening for the satellite at the park was discussed. Chairperson Seeley explained to <br />Committee Member Branch how the committee works regarding splitting into sub-committees <br />to work on various projects. <br /> <br />Mr. Paul PaIzer presented the committee with a printout and cost of a Dogi-Pot Pet Station <br />which could be installed at the parks or near trailheads to be used to deposit dog feces. The <br />committee thought it a really good idea and would like to recommend City Council direct staff <br />to purchase and install one at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park near the trail. If this eliminates <br />some of the problems with pet waste, the committee would like to potentially order more for <br />the other parks. <br /> <br />Motion was made by ComlDittee Member Harris, seconded by Chairpenon Seeley to <br />reeoDllDeDd City COUDcll direct staff to purchase and install ODe Dogi-Pot Pet Station <br />near the trailhead at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park with the cost not to exceed $300 for <br />product, shipping and installation. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />At the last committee meeting proposals were discussed for a new merry go round type <br />stmcture for 2 - 5 year olds, a climbing wall, tallc1ng shoots and borders, drain tile and new fall <br />zone protection to be installed in 2008. A subcommittee of Chairperson Seeley, Committee <br />Member Harris and Ms. Lee will meet Wednesday, January 9, 2008 to finali7.e these plans with <br />a recommendation to be made at the February committee meeting. <br /> <br />Park Rules <br /> <br />At the December 5, 2007 Parks &. Recreation meeting, the committee discussed City Code as it <br />applies to Park Rules. Each item was discussed and Chairperson Seeley put it into document , <br />form which was reviewed at the January 2, 2008 meeting. Almost each issue the committee <br />addressed is currently covered by City Code, but there were a few the committee would like <br />City Council to consider Adding to City Code; no fishing, no swimming. no boat launching <br />where posted and an addition to 92.04: no glass or glass containers.
