<br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> <br />1694 Sorel Street, Centerville, Minnesota 55038 429.3232 <br /> <br />July 31, 1980 <br />INFORMATION LETTER <br /> <br />TO ALL RESIDENTS OF CENTERVILLE: <br /> <br />1. Several complaints have been received at the City Hall office <br />concerning dogs. The main complaint seems to be dogs barking at <br />night creating a nuisance. SECTION III of Ordinance #2~ states: <br />"No person shall keep or allow to be kept any dog, cat, or other <br />animal which shall by any noise, disturb the peace and quiet of any <br />other person. No person shall keep within the City limits a dog or <br />cat, or other animals which habitually barks or cries for extended <br />or unreasonable periods of time, and any such animal which damages <br />plantings or structures, or deposits fecal matter on private property <br />of others, after the person owning or harboring the animal has been <br />notified of such acts as herein provided is hereby declared to be <br />a nuisance. Any person aggrieved by an animal nuisance may make a <br />written complaint to the Police Department, or such other persons <br />designated by the Mayor, stating the acts complained of, the name <br />and address of the owner of the animal, and the name and address <br />of the person making the complaint. The Police Department shall <br />then promptly notify the person owning or keeping the animal and <br />shall order the nuisance abated within 5 days. If such animal <br />nuisance is not abated within that time, a charge may be made <br />against the owner or keeper of the animal and any person found to <br />have violated the provisions of this section shall be guilty of <br />a misdemeanor." <br /> <br />Section IV of Ordinance #24 states that every dog in the City over <br />six months shall be licensed. Please license your dog if it has <br />no t be8n done. <br /> <br />2. The C1ty maintenance man reports of plastic material being <br />flushed down the sewer. Under Section 13 of Ordinance #30, materials <br />of this type are prohibited from being discharged into the City sewer. <br /> <br />3. Parents are advised that the City has a curfew Ordinance #3 <br />which states that any person under the age of 14 years shall not <br />be present on city streets or park areas between the hours of <br />9:)0 PM and 5:00 AM of the following day unless acoompanied by a <br />parent or guardian. As of this date, this curfew ordinance will <br />be enforced by our Police Department. <br /> <br />4. Children have been seen on the City tennis courts causing damage <br />to courts and using foul language in the presence of several adults. <br />If this continues, the City will close the tennis courts for the <br /> <br />remainder of the year. ~lV.A Ac e-<--A/ <br /> <br /> <br />LUJaChar, Clerk <br />
