<br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of <br />Centerville held their regular meeting on Wednesday, August <br />25, 1982 in City Hall. Mayor Savela called the meeting to <br />order at 8:00 PM. Present were: L'Allier, Laska, Murray <br />and Wilharber. Motion by Wilharber, second by L'Allier to <br />approve minutes of August 11, 1982 meeting, motion carried. <br /> <br />PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS: Ken Carpenter of 6885 20th Avenue <br />South, Centerville presented council with petition and two <br />pictures stating "We the undersigned are totally against <br />the dumping, stock piling or spreading of sludge in the <br />village or city of Centerville" consiting of 121 household <br />signatures of Centerville, 5 signatures from Lino Lakes <br />property owners. Petition will be on file with city clerk. <br />Discussion followed. Motion by L'Allier, second by Wilharber <br />to notify PCA that we have received petition and send them <br />copy and also inform them the City is going to work on an <br />ordinance prohibiting spreading and stockpiling of sludge <br />in Centerville, motion carried. <br /> <br />Roof bids for city hall were viewed and matter tabled at this <br />time. <br /> <br />Mr. Steve Hulback of 1736 Center Street appeared before <br />council concerning a variance for his garage at 1736 Center <br />Street. Clerk read minutes of May 12, 1982 meeting when <br />variance request was denied. Mr. Hulback was requested to <br />reduce size of garage because of side yard setback. Motion <br />by Wilharber, second by Laska to grant variance to Ordinance <br />#4, TABLE B - SCHEDULE OF DISTRICT REGULATIONS LOT AND YARD <br />REQUIREMENTS, R-2 Single Family Residential - Side Yard <br />Setback, after building inspector views property, motion <br />carried. Variance is granted because of irregular dimensions <br />of lot. <br /> <br />Laska reported talking to Hank Miers about cutting grass in <br />city park area; clerk was to contact Pat Fruth on same <br />and report at next meeting. <br /> <br />Application for 3.2 beer permit for softball tournament on <br />August 28 and 29 at Twin Lakes Ballfield was submitted for <br />approval. Motion by Laska, second by L'Allier to issue 3.2 <br />beer permit to the Down Under Bar for softabll tournament <br />August 28 and 29 at the Twin Lakes Ballfield, 2 ayes; 3 nays, <br />motion did not carry, request denied. <br /> <br />Fire Department members were in attendance to discuss erection <br />of new fire hall. Material from Springsted, Inc., was discussed <br />pertaining to debt service of city and mill rate increase. <br />Motion by Laska to hold special election on November 2, 1982 <br />stating "Shall the City of Centerville issue general obliga- <br />tion bonds in an amount not to exceed $100,000. for the <br />purpose of providing money for a new fire hall and maintenance <br />building", no second; Laska withdrew his motion. <br />
