<br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council <br />of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting on <br />Wednesday, June 9, 1982 in City Hall. Mayor Savela <br />called the meeting to order at 8:00 PM. Present were <br />L'Allier, Laska, Murray and Wilharber. Motion by <br />Laska, second by Wilharber to accept minutes of May <br />26, 1982 meeting, motion carried. <br /> <br />PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS: Ditch behind and two lots west <br />of 1760 Center Street needs cleaning up/out; the ditch <br />running along 1793 Center Street needs cleaning out, <br />water doesn't flow through; sod at corner of County #14 <br />and 20th Avenue (7105 - 20th Avenue) needs looking at <br />because grass isn't growing in bottom of ditch. Mayor <br />checked with insurance agent on liability insurance to <br />be taken out by persons applying for 3.2 beer permits <br />in City. Under new legislation, in March of 1983, <br />civic groups such as Lions, VFW, Legion Clubs will be <br />required to have such insurance when applying for a <br />3.2 beer permit. Insurance agent quoted amount for an <br />eight-team, 2-day tournament running approximately $350.- <br />500. <br /> <br />Council reviewed request from Northwestern Bell Telephone <br />for buried cable placement on Progress Road. Motion by <br />Wilharber, second by Laska to give permission for North- <br />western Bell to place, construct and thereafter maintain <br />buried cable from a pole on City right-of-way (corner <br />of County Road #14 and Progress Road) 180 feet north <br />on Progress Road to property line of 7124 Progress Road, <br />motion carried. <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Chairman Kruger requested council give <br />permission to Fire Department to have a water ball facility <br />inside the skating rink. Council agreed to request if no <br />water problems develop for city or Dorscher property. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on development of city park property. <br />Fertilizer has been spread and Laska was instructed to <br />have black dirt delivered for filling up ruts and <br />spreading over area. Ray Houle advised that MetroFolitan <br />Fence will install the two backstops at a cost of $1650. <br />which is under the bid given to City last year. He also <br />advised a contribution of approximately $1700. would be <br />forthcoming from the Centerville Lions Club. <br /> <br />Motion by Laska, second by Murray to issue ).2 beer permit <br />to Jim Passeri for softball tournament on June 26 and 27, <br />1982 at Twin Lakes Ballfield, motion carried. <br /> <br />Clerk to check with John Trippel about phone installation <br />on his building. <br />
