The City's inventory totel as of January 2008 Is <br />1.352 units. In addition to the total amount of units it is important to understand housing <br />tenure and amount of owner and rental occupancy. Data from the 2000 Census finds <br />that the community has a 66.2% owner-occupied and 33.8% rental occupied housing <br />mix. <br /> <br />Each new household added to a city requires an additional housing unit and results In <br />Increasing residential land uses. Centervllla presently has a faster growth rata than tha <br />county, increasing by approximately 155 households per year between 1990 and 2005. <br />The city added 558 households in the 1990s. The Met Council forecast shows that <br />Centerville will be adding an additional 555 households between 2005 and 2030. Since <br />the City has determined that it is Important to exceed a population of 5,000. the City has <br />adopted land use policies that will Increase the population after full build-out. The <br />forecests for household and popUlation figures based on these new land uses are shown <br />In Table 22 balow. The ratio of persons per household In Centerville Is expected to <br />dacline by 2030 due to an aging population and the larger genaral demographic trend of <br /> <br />64 <br />
