Parks & Recreation Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes February 6, 2008 <br /> <br />Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with the hours as requested. <br />All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />IV. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES <br /> <br /> January 2, 2008 Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Branch, seconded by Committee Member Harris <br />to approve the January 2, 2008, Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes including <br />an amendment to page 2, fifth paragraph under “McBride Park” first sentence to read: “At <br />the last meeting, proposals were discussed for a new merry go round, a play structure for 2-5 <br />year olds, a climbing wall, talk tubes, borders, drain tile and new fall protection to be installed <br />in 2008”. Ayes – 4, Nays – 0, Abstain – 1 (Amundsen). Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />V. COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Chairperson Seeley reminded the Parks & Recreation Committee about the annual park clean-up <br />on Earth Day in April. She stated that committee members usually help along with whatever <br />volunteers sign up. Last year the volunteers were few. She indicated that Wargo Nature Center <br />usually has more volunteers than they need and that some of those could be directed to <br />Centerville Parks. The Committee liked the idea of the extra help. It was suggested that a request <br />for volunteers be posted on the City website. Chairperson Seeley will prepare a draft of what she <br />would like put on the website. <br /> <br />Summer Programs <br /> <br /> <br /> This item was discussed under appearances. <br /> <br />Centennial Soccer Club’s Request for Use of Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park <br /> <br /> <br />This item was also discussed under appearances <br /> <br />Code of Ethics / Disclosure of Financial Interests for 2008 <br /> <br />Committee members each turned in a conflicts of interest disclosure form. It was noted that a <br />meeting will be held in March with the Council and all committees/commissions. <br /> <br /> Tracie McBride Memorial Park Renovations <br /> <br />Committee Member Harris reviewed a recommendation that she and Chairperson Seeley had <br />prepared. They propose to install improvements as soon as weather permits, estimated at $22,650 <br />for drain tile, concrete border, sod & restoration, signage and repainting. In addition they <br />proposed a merry-to-round, talk tube, and a play structure for 2 – 5 year olds totaling $9,855. <br />Other improvements were identified for future years as funds are available. <br /> <br />Mr. Dallas Larson reviewed the information prepared by staff that was presented to the <br />Committee in December. That proposal suggested that the climbing wall be purchased from <br />Midwest Playscapes to be installed in 2009. This piece is a little more expensive than the one <br />3 of 4 <br /> <br />
