<br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />OCTOBER 18, 1995 <br />TOWN MEETING NOTES <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held a town meeting on <br />Wednesday, October 18, 1995 at Centerville Elementary School. The town meeting was <br />not officially called to order but the following is notes taken. <br /> <br />The citizens present were asked to give three (3) strengths, three (3) weaknesses, and <br />three (3) growth concerns they felt Centerville has. <br /> <br />Strengths of Centervllle <br /> <br />TOP SIX: <br />Safe neighborhood / Low Crime <br />Small town feeling <br />Close to the Twin Cities <br />Sense of Community <br />Access to transportation <br />Open spaces <br />OTHERS: <br />Affordable housing <br />Natural surroundings <br />Schools <br />Industrial Zoning <br /> <br />Quality of Life <br />Suburban / Country mix <br />Quality Police <br /> <br />Weakness of Centervllle <br /> <br />TOP SIX: <br />Tax Base <br />High Water Table <br />More business/jobs <br />Community Shopping Center <br />Transportation <br />No Senior Housing <br />OTHERS: <br />Family Restaurants <br />Clear Direction <br />Lack of resident input <br />Small city income <br />No medical facility <br />No diversity <br />Gossip <br />Leadership <br /> <br />Housing growing to fast <br />Golf Course <br />Need better downtown <br />More trailways/parks <br />Poor soils <br />Lack ofland <br />Lack of housing <br /> <br />1 <br />
