<br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Centerville City <br />Council held their scheduled Truth and Taxation Continuation <br />Hearing on Thursday, December 9, 1993 at the City Hall. Mayor <br />Buckbee called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Present: <br />Brenner, Helmbrecht, Wilharber and Dario. <br /> <br />An overview was given of the December 2, 1993 Truth and Taxation <br />Hearing by Mayor Buckbee. <br /> <br />Tamara Miltz-Miller, Clerk/Administrator noted that high taxes <br />can be a deterrent to attracting new business. <br /> <br />; <br /> <br />The options discussed by the City Council were: <br />- Decrease the proposed street maintenance budget to <br />$40,000. This would result in a 13.7% increase in the <br />tax capacity rate. <br />- Maintain the $45,000 street maintenance budget. This <br />would result in a 16.4% increase in the tax capacity <br />rate. <br />- Maintain the $45,000 street maintenance budget and budget <br />for a possible $3,000 Local Government Aid cut. This <br />would result in a 17.9% increase in the tax capacity <br />rate. <br /> <br />Motion by Buckbee, second by Dario to certify the net levy as <br />$225,532, added to Fiscal Disparities of $83,605 the levy <br />certified to Anoka County shall be $309,137; this levy follows <br />the scenario that $45,000 will be maintained in the street <br />maintenance budget and $3,000 is allotted for possible 1994 Local <br />Government Aid cuts, motion carried unanimously_ <br /> <br />Motion by Buckbee, second <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />by Wilharber to adjourn the meeting, <br />Meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />Tamara M.
