MEMO

TO: Parks and Recreation Committee Members

FROM: Kim Stephan

SUBJECT: Updates

DATE: May 1,2008

Tracie McBride Memorial Park Renovations

The following update is from Mr. Paul Palzer:

The Council at their last meeting approved a contract to Andy Ross for the new border and playground area
and he will be coordinating with Game Time for the new play structures. The well house work will be
completed this week and the play structure work is scheduled to be completed by June 15th unless we have
unseasonably poor weather.

Mr. Palzer also reported that to actually color the cement blue as the committee requested would be cost
prohibitive as it is a substantial additional cost per yard. To paint the cement with a blue epoxy there is an
additional charge, but less than coloring the cement. Mr. Palzer will have these costs for the committee
before the next meeting. There is no extra charge to color the cement a tannish-red as that is done with a
clay product opposed to the chemicals required for blue.

YMCA Summer Proe;rams

The following update is from Ms. Liz Guimont:

Centerville Park Play Days registration is looking great. It is definitely a GO for this summer! We haven't
had much response for the Skate Park, but we'll keep our eye on it and keep you updated. I was wondering
if there is an indoor space where we might be able to keep a few supplies in. I know there was a warming
house we had used before, could we get a key for that again? Just let me know any specifics about the park
and anything else you need from us. I have copied Kate Bronson on this email; she will be the main contact
over the summer. Thanks so much for collaborating with us and I'm very excited for the program to start!
